How it works
Results are calculated with fixed rules, using only the birth date and name you enter and today's date. Answers are not made by AI: on the same device, the same question on the same day always gets the same answer (and across devices once you sign in).

The element of your name
Your name is turned into one element by its number of Latin letters (A–Z): the last digit of the count decides it (1·6 Water, 2·7 Fire, 3·8 Wood, 4·9 Metal, 5·0 Earth). Spaces, numbers and symbols are not counted. Your name as typed stays only on your device.
The energy you need today
We add up the Five Elements of the six characters for your birth year, month and day, your name's element, and today's day pillar. If your own element and the elements that support it make up half or more, your Day Master is treated as strong; otherwise as weak. We then choose from the matching helpful elements, giving priority to the one today's day brings.
A deliberate simplification: in Saju, strength is normally judged from the birth chart alone. To make results change day by day, we include today's day pillar when judging strength. This may differ from a traditional Saju reading.
Your local date
"Today" follows your device's time zone, so results switch at midnight your local time. People in different time zones may see different days at the same moment.
No birth time needed
We don't ask for your birth time; every chart uses 12:00 noon (Korea Standard Time) on your birth date. The hour pillar is not used, only the six characters for year, month and day. If you were born on a solar-term changeover day (one day each month), your month pillar may differ; if you were born around Ipchun (立春, the start of spring, about February 4), your year pillar may differ too.
Same birthday, different answers
Which item is chosen within a category depends on a random number (profileSeed) created on your device the first time you enter your info. It has nothing to do with your name or birthday, so people with the same birthday can get different items on different devices. Once you sign in, this number syncs across devices, so you see the same answers everywhere.
Calendar data
Lunar dates and solar terms are calculated with an open-source library (manseryeok, MIT) based on data from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI).
Take it lightly
Results are suggestions based on the principles of Saju (a random number created on your device is also used when choosing items within the same element). Please don't use them for important decisions about money, health or legal matters. See the Terms of Use for details.
